Press - Mayor Announced 2008 Neighborfest Schedule

Posted on: May 27, 2008

Neighborfest kicks off its third year at Whiteside Park (4009 S. Pittsburg Ave.) on Tuesday, May 27th at 5pm. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.

Described as a ‘block party’ hosted by Mayor Taylor and the nine City Councilors, Neighborfests are scheduled in a Tulsa Park in each of the nine districts. At the two hour event, Tulsans can enjoy the music, talk with the elected officials, sample the free refreshments (compliments of Pepsi Bottling and Bordens Ice Cream), or visit any of the city exhibits.

“Families are encouraged to bring a picnic dinner and make it a family event,” describes Bob Hendrick, Neighborfest Coordinator.

"We’ll also have a Kids Zone, and our ‘Tulsa Talents’ competition where performers will be competing for cash prizes.”

The last Neighborfest on August 5th will also be the Mayor’s “Back to School Rally” where the finalists for ‘Tulsa Talents’ will perform and prizes will be awarded.
