Partnering with the Children’s Defense Fund, Mayor Kathy Taylor is hosting a “Cradle to Prison Pipeline” Summit in Tulsa January 28-29th. She is inviting mayors statewide to join the effort by attending the summit. Read the Alva Review-Courier story.
The official groundbreaking for the new Tulsa Drillers ballpark took place today with enthusiastic participants wielding golden shovels.
Hundreds of Tulsans gathered downtown to watch the 2008 Parade of Lights. Sponsored by Public Service Company of Oklahoma, floats, marching bands and other participants meandered through city streets to the delight of the crowds.

Crowds of proud Tulsans came dowtown today to honor the military at the 2008 Veteran's Day Parade. The reviewing stand was filled with elected officials and dignitaries as bands, floats, student groups, veterans and others made their way down the streets of downtown.
"This is a day to pause and remember our troops, both past and present," said Mayor Kathy Taylor. "This generation of Americans owes our freedom to those who served and to those who are currently serving both home and abroad."
Taylor is joined by Colonel Terry Riddle, Commander of Tulsa Public Schools ROTC programs. Also in attendance were Representatives Jeannie McDaniel and Lucky Lamons.
